Lyndon Neri y Rossana Hu, of the multidisciplinary design studio Neri&Hu, presented their latest collection LAN for GAN during the Salone del Mobile at Milan earlier this year. In this interview with the popular design platform Archiproducts, they describe their inspiration and the creative process that came about through the design of this innovative collection.
LAN is a milestone in GAN’s history, creating a new sofa typology that goes against the traditional concept of a single element and opts instead for separate modules and screens of different sizes that match different rugs. Neri&Hu were inspired by the room dividers and screens of the Orient and the tradition of dying fabrics the colour indigo for home decoration. The word LAN means “blue” in Mandarin.
Based in this tradition, Neri&Hu have achieved a timeless contemporary design, one that is elegant and integrates the lines and tones to create a feeling of depth. Once again the traditional and the contemporary come together through GAN in order to make room for new formal possibilities and comfort levels.
