GAN is celebrating! Interior Design Magazine announced last Saturday in New York that its collection GARDEN LAYERS, designed by Patricia Urquiola, has won the prestigious award NYCxDesign for the Outdoor category.

Congratulations to Patricia Urquiola and the team at GAN for this recognition, especially relevant for GAN given that GARDEN LAYERS is its very first outdoor line. The collection of rugs, mattresses, roll pillows and cushions that Urquiola created, inspired by the delicacy and harmony of Mughal architecture, receives its first international award after being launched just two months ago at Salone del Mobile in Milan.

The NYCxDesign Awards, last year awarded to the BLAU collection by GANDIABLASCO in this same category, was announced at a gorgeous ceremony at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), and presented by the magazine editor Cindy Allen. The event took in the context of the International Contemporary Furniture Fair or ICFF, a design date that brings thousands of designers and professionals every year to New York City.

Allen underlined that despite the awards’ relative recent launch, the submissions included more than 700 projects and products under different categories, almost twice as many as the year before. “Choosing the winners was an arduous task and one that kept us awake at night,” she told the audience, “but now we can be sure that we are sharing something really special.”

The winning collection by Patricia Urquiola is on display at the New York GAN showroom in SoHo.
