GAN presents different open-air spaces that combine sustainable design, craftsmanship and comfort to enjoy peaceful moments of relaxation.
In 2022, life outdoors is more enjoyable than ever. Even more so in summer, a time when terraces, gardens and balconies become the main attractions as they are transformed into spaces that invite calm and relaxation. Although the boundaries between indoor and outdoor spaces are becoming increasingly blurred, outdoor areas continue to rise in price with the arrival of good weather because they allow direct contact with nature, foster daily relaxation and blend in with the landscape. They are open spaces with harmonious and peaceful decoration for practicing the dolce far niente, the art of doing nothing and finding happiness in the small daily pleasures such as sunbathing on a daybed, enjoying a nap on an outdoor sofa or reading a book on a rug between soft cushions.
True to its artisan philosophy and sustainable spirit, this season GAN is offering different options for the outdoors. The aim is to create atmospheres that extend seamlessly both inside and outside, so you can enjoy the outdoors during the summer and throughout the year.
A design dialogue between East and West
An acclaimed outdoor design, because of its diversity and rich composition, is GARDEN LAYERS, devised by Patricia Urquiola for GAN. Inspired by Mughal architecture and culture, this extensive collection includes a wide range of rugs, mats, tables, daybeds, rollers and cushions. The collection expresses a fusion of styles between East and West with a design based on the strength of texture with rich fabrics that play with patterns, contrasting colors and the superimposition of different decorative elements. GARDEN LAYERS is an invitation to the most earthly form of relaxation, with furniture and textile accessories that bring you closer to the ground allowing you to enjoy the summer in a more relaxed and leisurely manner, without sacrificing comfort and design.
The innovative fabrics in the collection are made entirely from recycled PET, a sustainable material that is highly resistant to wear and tear and moisture. The fillings are specifically designed for outdoor use, while maintaining the comfort typical of indoor spaces.
Soft as a cloud, firm as a jute bag
GRAPY, the iconic and trendy soft seat designed by Kensaku Oshiro, changes its cotton, canvas and velvet fabrics for a hard-wearing cover in outdoor fabric. A strategic and necessary switch which allows you to go out to relax in the open air without having to worry about the effects of humidity and the sun’s rays on this designer piece.
Marquetry, from the Bahia collection by Sunbrella, and Meltemi Texture, from the Waterproof in&out series by Jover Decó, are the removable fabrics of GRAPY OUTDOOR, both with a geometric character and available in three shades: blue, ochre and orange. With water-repellent and stain-resistant finishes, they are elegant and, at the same time, versatile and easy to maintain.
But if this contemporary lounge chair really stands out for anything, it is for its generous shapes – it measures 70x100x60 cm high – and for its flexibility, due both to its polystyrene padding and chopped foam rubber and to the elastic connection of three volumes, joined by reinforced seams. The result is a seat that adapts naturally to the lines and movements of our body, allowing you to experience the ultimate form of relaxation in terraces, gardens, porches and all kinds of outdoor living environments.
The power of geometry and color
Sometimes a single decorative element can change a space and give it freshness, energy and personality. DIAMOND is a good example of this. Charlotte Lancelot‘s outdoor kilim collection for GAN appeals to the senses immediately. The designer’s idea was to create a multi-faceted coloured diamond, obtained by superimposing different, seemingly translucent geometric shapes. The result is exhilarating: the handmade kilims bring an extra dose of color that brightens up any room. Each design is made from 100% recycled PET and can be combined with other GAN designs to create tailor-made outdoor spaces.
These beautiful outdoor spaces are just some of the designs that GAN offers to enjoy the summer outdoors. The Valencian firm has a wide range of spaces, rugs and accessories that are characterized by innovation in design, a commitment to the use of sustainable materials and handcrafted manufacture that forms part of its DNA. Light, color, design and texture for a relaxed Outdoor Living in the purest GAN style.
Accessories, versatile protagonists
Several spaces in one. Outdoor environments, dynamic and changing in essence, call for light pieces that are easy to use and maintain, allowing them to be reconfigured depending on the time of year and the needs of each moment. The ARAM tables and stools, designed by the Japanese designer Oki Sato -from the Nendo studio-, are available in two heights and are elegant due to their lightness and handmade DNA.
These GAN auxiliary designs, which speak a different and innovative aesthetic language, are the perfect complement for the brand’s textile spaces and outdoor rugs. Created from fine wires woven around a thermo-lacquered stainless steel structure, they become off-road pieces without giving up their ethereal, almost incorporeal appearance. Finished in a wide range of colors -with which to create cheerful compositions-, these seats and tables that seem to float are surprising for their resistance.
