GAN’s designer rugs and accessories, crafted from the highest quality natural materials, embody the essence of new luxury, speaking to comfort, authenticity, environmental respect, and the surprise element inherent in the best hospitality experiences.
Cutting-edge hotels have evolved from mere stopovers to destinations themselves, where well-being and the connection between the visitor and their surroundings take on new meaning. Therefore, the careful selection of pieces from GAN collections contributes to essential warmth and comfort, adding an extra dose of personality, making them key elements that enhance not only the interior design project but also the overall guest experience.
A warm embrace is the best welcome
The lobby of a hotel serves as a focal point where guests form their initial impressions, and its design, atmosphere, and service are crucial to ensuring a positive experience. The welcoming common areas at the entrance of Hotel Raval de la Mar in the historic center of Vilaseca de Solcina (Tarragona, Spain), featuring the textures and generous volumes of Patricia Urquiola‘s MANGAS SPACE for GAN, set the tone for this charming establishment in a former noble house on the Mediterranean coast.
Designed by architects Alba and Pineda Vallvè Salas, Raval de la Mar speaks an architecturally sensitive language in harmony with its urban environment, characteristic of an old town with heritage values. The ancient elements of the original construction breathe history and tradition, contrasting with the interior dominated by modern design, such as the rugs, modules, and chaise longue-style seating of MANGAS SPACE. These are handwoven with thick wool fibers, combining patterns and colors like yellow, natural, pink, gray, and coral. The result is a cozy and dynamic environment that invites interaction from a place of serenity and connects with a sense of community.

Feeling the charm of a private retreat on your skin
The Muchele Hotel, located in the picturesque South Tyrol region, stands as a private refuge managed by the Ganthaler family’s third generation. Focused on well-being, enology, and an appreciation for the surrounding natural beauty, it exemplifies how design and decoration play a decisive role in what the Muchele owners define as “the warmest enjoyment experience for discerning individualists.” The hotel’s unique character harmoniously blends with some of GAN’s most graphic collections, providing a counterpoint of color and texture.
Whether in rooms seeking tranquility through neutral colors or those daring with vibrant chromatic accents, a rug becomes an essential element to add luminosity, depth, and the warmth and history of handmade craftsmanship. Each suite at Muchele has its personality through careful choices of furniture, lighting, and textiles. The elegance of nature, represented by the fibers shaping GAN’s rugs, establishes a deep connection with the surrounding environment. Designs like CATANIA by Sandra Figuerola and BACKSTITCH by Raw-Edges enhance the unique features of some spaces, handcrafted using embroidery and kilim techniques, adding a touch of authenticity and warmth that becomes irresistible to walk barefoot upon. Here, GAN rugs are not just decorative but a constant reminder of craftsmanship and attention to detail distinguishing this hotel property.

The 7 Islas Madrid Hotel, an oasis between Madrid’s Gran Via and the lively Malasaña neighborhood, boasts spacious, bright, and tranquil rooms designed by the Kikekeller studio, featuring an art gallery with rotating exhibitions and artisanal gastronomy and cocktails. In this haven for rest, art, and gastronomy, GAN kilims make the bedrooms highly comfortable, bringing joy, modernity, and a distinctive and laid-back touch to every corner. The project highlights the bold graphic design of GAN’s RODAS model, characterized by the strength and durability of jute, a natural and ecological option with a rustic style. Handwoven, RODAS is a versatile and modern rug that, like other GAN creations, offers significant advantages for hospitality projects: defining spaces, absorbing sound, and cushioning footsteps, creating welcoming and functional environments for guests and staff.

A versatile setting to blur the lines between leisure and business
The expressiveness of textures, patterns, and colors underscores the importance of paying attention to details, resonating with the contemporary hotels’ pursuit of a more conscious and sensory luxury. The careful selection of shapes, colors, and materials in rugs plays a fundamental role in achieving goals like amplifying light, bringing serenity or dynamism, and even highlighting architectural features. A prime example of this philosophy is the Haworth Hotel in Michigan. Its inviting spaces, designed for socializing, working, meeting, and enjoying a complete and enriching experience, feature exclusive rugs by Patricia Urquiola for Haworth Collection, produced by GAN. Wool rugs like the SQUARES GREY model are a secure choice, combining softness, insulation, flexibility, and durability in the common areas and workspaces of the establishment.

Circular materials for responsible designs
Studio Urquiola designs the interiors of Six Senses Rome, a five-star hotel located in Palazzo Salviati Cesi Mellini in the central Piazza di San Marcello in the Italian capital. The project, integrating rug collections and spaces exclusively designed by Patricia Urquiola —founder of Studio Urquiola— for GAN, rediscovers a new level of integration between hospitality, well-being, sustainability, and the city, putting the community, not just the guest, at the center.
This new space is a blend of past and future, fascinating in how classical elements harmoniously mix with the contemporary and sustainable design of the architect. Patricia Urquiola has customized one of her collections for GAN to complement the experience at Six Senses Rome: PATCH, belonging to the collection exclusively edited by GAN for Haworth Collection. These flat-weave designs, characterized by intense contrasts and shapes, furnish the bedrooms and lounges of the hotel’s suites, bathed in natural light, balancing a rugged landscape where construction solutions combine traditional elements such as cocciopesto and Travertine limestone plasterworks, the local stone par excellence, along with mosaic and opus incertum, materials from the Roman architectural tradition.
PATCH pieces are made with 100% recycled PET fibers, a highly resistant material that perfectly adapts to the usage requirements of contract facilities like hotels. Handcrafted entirely using the dhurrie technique in India, one of the most polluting countries but also one with the highest number of PET recycling plants, PATCH rugs stand out with an intriguing checkered pattern.
