It’s a pleasure to announce that Garden Layers has been selected by ELLE DECORATION Spain to participate in the Elle Decor International Design Awards 2018 (or EDIDA for short) in the ‘Outdoor’ category. GAN’s first outdoor collection was also nominated by ELLE DECOR Japan within the ‘Carpet’ category. Garden Layers, designed by Patricia Urquiola, will be competing with other candidates selected by the 26 International Editions of the magazine from around the globe. The final results will be announced on April 28th at the awards ceremony, during the 2018 edition of the Salone del Mobile in Milan.

Garden Layers has been a sensation since its launch earlier this year. It has already been recognised with numerous awards within the Furniture: Outdoor Lounge category, BoY (Best of Year) award from Interior Design Magazine; the Home/Textile category, Fuera de Serie Award from the Spanish publication of the same name; the Outdoor category, NYCxDesign Awards; and an ADA (Archiproducts Design Award).
The collection, which includes rugs, mattresses, roll pillows and cushions, was inspired by Mughal architecture and culture. During a visit to India, where GAN’s collections are made by hand, Patricia Urquiola became enthralled with an exhibition of miniature drawings that captured the traditional scenes of outdoor living of the time. Just like that, GAN’s first outdoor collection was conceived. The innovative materials, together with its range of patterns and colours, makes it easy to combine the elements in different ways or “layers”. Garden Layers is also suitable for any climate, whether winter or summer. The collection can be laid on decking, concrete, grass or directly on sand.
