The Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan became the focal point for the hospitality design industry last November 12-13, when it hosted the eighth edition of BDNY (Boutique Design New York). Approximately 125,000 sq. ft. (11.600 m2) were dedicated to the latest products and initiatives connected with the hospitality industry, as well as conferences and talks. This year, GAN presented two of its most iconic collections: Bandas and Garden Layers, both by Patricia Urquiola.
Bandas is a revolutionary modular collection that brings the rug into the third dimension, consisting of an eclectic mix of components. Rugs, modular seating elements, ottomans and cushions are designed to be combined in a myriad of ways. This colourful collection mixes different patterns, textures and motifs thus allowing spaces to be completely customised.
Garden Layers is the first GAN collection specifically designed for outdoors. Inspired by a trip to India, where outdoor relaxation and enjoyment of nature are ancient traditions, Urquiola has designed a series of rugs, mattresses, roll pillows and cushions that can be mixed in different ways to create an outdoor living area. The pieces combine the textures of indoor designs with high-tech outdoor fibres to create customisable configurations.
Many thanks for dropping by and we hope to see you next year!
