The series of rugs and poufs designed by Charlotte Lancelot for GAN, awarded in the Decor category
Last November the 23rd, a long-awaited appointment in the design calendar took place in Milan: the evening of the Archiproducts Design Awards 2022. This year, the jury awarded the top prize in the Decor category to the new REVERSIBLE Pink rug, designed by Charlotte Lancelot (one of its three color versions).
This award highlights the unique and creative eye of Charlotte Lancelot and the innovative spirit of the GAN team, who in REVERSIBLE have once again teamed up to update the age-old art of weaving through research and exploration in the fields of craftsmanship and design. The result is a new handloom technique, developed expressly for this collection.
The pieces that make up the REVERSIBLE spaces have no front or back. The rugs and poufs in this series change appearance and texture with a simple twist and can be as light in summer as they are cozy in winter. The first samples took shape thanks to a grant from the Fédération Wallonie Bruxelles and the collaboration of Marie Beguin of textile studio No More Twist, who worked with Charlotte Lancelot on developing the double-sided concept. A complex hand-loom process, created expressly for this collection, makes it possible to combine yarns of different thicknesses and materials, generating the two REVERSIBLE finishes at the same time: 100% virgin wool, on the one hand, and linen and cotton, on the other. The rugs are available in two sizes and three different colors (pink, yellow and black) that can be combined with each other, while the square poufs, in the same finishes, are comfortable and easy to handle thanks to the light weight of their foam filling and their dimensions.
The ADAs celebrate the excellence of professionals and brands on the international design scene. Each year, a jury of the industry’s top architects, designers and creative directors selects and evaluates hundreds of entries and recognizes those projects and solutions characterized by a perfect balance between aesthetics, function and innovation, as well as creativity in the use of materials and forms. The multidisciplinary jury of the ADAs in this latest edition was made up of prestigious architects, designers, photographers, editors and art directors. Among them, figures such as Michael Anastassiades (UK), Giovanna Castiglioni (Italy), Pitsou Kedem (Israel), Quincoces-Dragò (Italy) and Andrés Reisinger (Spain).
On behalf of all the people who make the work of GAN possible, we would like to thank the organization and jury of the Archiproducts Design Awards for this new distinction and to extend our congratulations to Charlotte Lancelot as well as the rest of the projects and professionals awarded this year.
