
GARDEN LAYERS, designed by Patricia Urquiola has just been recognised with an Archiproducts Design Award (ADA) 2017 in the Outdoor Category. The innovative collection is the first outdoor venture by GAN. GARDEN LAYERS was inspired by Mughal architecture and culture, in which the enjoyment of life outdoors is an ancient tradition. The prestigious ADA award, which this year celebrates its second edition,received more than 600 entries from 300 international brands. The jury included members from 40 international architectural offices, renowned architectural photographers and the Archiproducts team.
The Archiproducts Design Awards criterion includes considerations such as product aesthetics, graphics and semantics, concept as well as manufacturing techniques. The awards also aim to promote the synergies between designers and manufacturers. Patricia Urquiola and GAN have previously collaborated on a number of award-winning products including BANDAS and MANGAS.
GARDEN LAYERS, although conceived for the outdoors, has an indoor sensibility. The collection includes rugs, mattresses, roll pillows and cushions. It features innovative textiles and high-tech filling suitable for exterior use. The various elements can be combined in different ways thanks to the neutral colour range and feature a distinctive fringe. GARDEN LAYERS can be used on any kind of surface including decking, terraces and sand. It is highly resistant to the elements.
The ADA award was designed by Spanish studio MUT Design Studio and is made from ceramic and metal.
